Growing up, my family had a pretty normal food scene. Just typical Korean foods and western foods
However, when my family wants me to try something new, or unfamiliar...things that I just do not want to eat.. they always say..
JUST EAT IT!
ITS GOOD FOR YOU
.::shudder::.
Whenever my uncle says this...it really scares me.
uh oh...
One day I found my uncle sitting in the kitchen eating something brown out of a can.
When he passed me the can to look at it, it was all in Korean.
The problem is...I can't read Korean.
Another moment in my life where my lack of understanding of the Korean language...
would be taken advantage of.
When I looked closely at it...I noticed something was terribly wrong.
It was a can of silkworms.
One time my aunt, from Hawaii, was babysitting me. I remember quite fondly that I never looked forward to her cooking..
Whereas my uncle might be the Food explorer, I think my aunt was the culinary evil scientist.
| I've learned from a young age that if they say something is "special"... It actually means "DANGEROUS" |
....
I peered down into the infamous Wok.
It was a mix of I dunno how many cultures into one Wok.
International cuisine had a whole new meaning..
at this moment it meant death...
A dangerous thing to say to my aunts.
There was no way of getting out of this one..
| She's good with persuasion...or rather...threats. |
She scooped out a large helpful onto my plate and watched me silently as I ate..
I felt like I was on some sick, tv show.
Later on I got really sick. My mom thinks the meat she used went bad..
So when she asks..
I just replied..
uncle's hair is way cooler than that! lol
ReplyDeleteeemo is really scary. i tried one of her "special" fried rice dishes before... i think she gets it from grandpa. he used to mix everything too. i don't remember it being TOO bad. but then i've never seen her eat any of her creations...
