When I was a kid, one of my favorite toys was a play-doh set that I got from one of my parents friends.
I don't remember how old I was when I got it, but I do remember at the time how amazing it was to me.
I remember making everything that I could think of. I made houses, different animals. etc.
But I hated how when my creations dried, it looked like it had some sick mold or skin disease developing on it.
So I moved on to sculpty clay. That clay didn't get any skin diseases, however, it never completely dried out either.
I tried to get my mom to bake things for me, but she felt that it was a waste of energy to bake a small little clay thing.
I remember being really offended by this. So to vent my frustrations on this, I made a small town and some people.
I set it on the ground where my parents would see.
and I proceeded to attack the the town, with Godzilla-like force.
My grandmother, who came over at the time, saw the whole thing and said something in Korean
and when I asked my mom what she said..
This sort of blew my mind.
Somehow, maybe it was my lack of information of both religion and science,
but I had thought that god made everything on this earth out of clay in the beginning.
which made me think that maybe...
I am god too
and with clay I could create my own universe and have people worship me.
But it must have been hard for god at first.
especially when you don't have the finances to buy clay yourself and not be supported by your own family.

Well, I grew up and I can buy my own clay to step on to vent frustrations (just kidding..kinda)
and i've learned that a toaster oven is works just as well for baking clay.
but my feelings about clay haven't really changed.
Of course, I don't think i'm god whenever I work with clay, but I have to admit, there's something about working with a mass of clay and being able to make anything you want with it.
its like having a bit of the universe in your fingers..
